- Plastics make car travel environmentally friendly
At the VDI conference in Mannheim this year, EMS-GRIVORY is presenting its contribution towards reduction of CO2 levels. On the one hand with highperformance plastics which are very similar to metals and which have been used for many years now to help reduce CO2 emissions from road traffic, but topics will also include biopolymers and manufacturing using process steam from a biomass power station.

- Grivory HT
Grivory® is the trade name of a group of engineering plastics manufactured and marketed by EMS-GRIVORY.
Grivory HT is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic construction material based on polyphthalamide (PPA).
A completely new and specific process for the manufacture, polymerisation and compounding of Grivory HT in Domat/Ems (Switzerland) has been developed by EMS-GRIVORY.
- Grivory G
The materials in this group are based on semi-crystalline polyamides with partially aromatic content. Grivory is supplied as granules for further processing in injection-moulding or extrusion processes using conventional, commercially available equipment and moulds.

- Grilamid WA: With seal of approval for hot-water applications
Grilamid polyamide 12 products of the WA (Water Approved) series from EMS-GRIVORY are specifically developed and tested for use in hot-water applications. Grilamid WA offers high technical value and an economical alternative to brass and high-performance polymers in the fields of sanitary, heating and industrial applications at working temperatures up to 95°C. Typical focus applications are water meters, filters, valves, pumps and fittings.
- Grilamid TR 60: The new dimension of transparent high-performance polyamides
With its very high transparency paired with excellent steam sterilizability and resistance to scratching, Grilamid TR 60 creates a variety of new possibilities in the medical sector as well as for household and industrial applications.
- Grivory HT3: The new polyphthalamide
In 2007, with the third HT-polyamide product family Grivory HT3, EMS-GRIVORY extended its assortment of high-temperature polyamides. As sole European manufacturer of HT-polyamides (PPA), EMS-GRIVORY continues to expand this product family. Grivory HT3 supplements already existing grades and offers ideal processability for both injection moulding and extrusion.
- Grivory GVX and LFT: Metal replacement at the highest level
Introduced in early 2008, the two new product families Grivory GVX and Grivory LFT for metal replacement - with the well-known excellent properties of Grivory - have enjoyed great market acceptance.

- Grivory HT3: In top shape even at high temperatures
The polyphthalamide Grivory HT3 stands out among high-temperature polyamides above all due to its absorption of moisture, flame protection and its good processability. When used in the fields of electro and electronics it becomes clear: Grivory HT3 is in top shape.
- Grilamid TR – Transparent, high-performance polyamides without weaknesses
Amorphous thermoplastic materials exhibit excellent transparency. On the other hand, these materials tend to show little resistance to stress cracking and have low flexural fatigue strength. Combination of these properties is however, not doomed to fail. It is made possible by the product family Grilamid TR, which provides a wide assortment ranging from flexible to rigid materials and enables practically indestructible plastic applications to be achieved satisfying the highest requirements.
- GRILAMID LVL long-fibre technology: Particularly advantageous properties due to long fibres
Compared to conventionally filled thermoplastics, the new Grilamid LVL products show 50% higher tensile strength. Moisture has practically no effect on these products, thus allowing the manufacture of extremely precise, dimensionally accurate components.
- GRIVORY GVL long-fibre technology: Products, that don’t get stressed
With long glass-fibre reinforced Grivory GVL, a new material is entering the market which is unfazed by both water uptake and high temperatures. Grivory GVL opens up new possibilities for the light-weight design of dynamically stressed components.
- Grilon BGZ FC – fast flowing, high impact strength polyamide 6
For thin-walled power tools this plastic material scores points with both its toughness and with economic aspects such as the shorter cycle time. But the new range of high impact strength Grilon FC products can score points in other areas as well.
- Grilamid "FWA" – new approvals for contact with foodstuffs and drinking water
Due its toughness and resistance to chemicals and hydrolysis, Grilamid polyamide 12 is an exceptionally well suited material for the manufacture of technically challenging components. With the new Grilamid PA12 products in the “FWA” series from EMS-GRIVORY, designers have been provided for the first time with PA12 materials holding a variety of approvals for applications involving contact with foodstuffs and drinking water.
- EMS-GRIVORY widens the range of bio-polyamides and completes eco-balance sheets
Bio is not the same as Bio. Without a clear contribution towards lowering environmental impact, primarily through a reduction in emissions of the greenhouse gas CO2, bio-polymers have little meaning.
- Metal replacement flying high
Polyamide as a substitute for metal is currently a topic of great interest. Products from EMS-GRIVORY open up previously unimagined possibilities for replacement of metal. This is demonstrated by an inconspicuous threaded tube, made of polyamide reinforced with long glass fibres, which easily holds the weight of a vehicle suspended on it. But the formula for success is based on more than just the suitable material.
- Energy from timber instead of natural gas
EMS-CHEMIE AG, and especially the business area Performance Polymers, believe in renewable energy and have been successful in achieving a sustainable reduction in CO2 emissions of more than 80 % at the production site in Domat/Ems.
